Some of the best mobile apps for remote workers…
We have previously talked about how the smartphone is making working remotely easier and how new technology makes it easier for you to keep on track of your workload if you have a job role which means you need to work out of the office from time to time. As a result, we decided to have a look at the business mobile apps that were available and how these can help remote workers.
Here are some of our favourites:
Slack is a team messaging app which provides a quick and easy way of communicating and sharing files between a team. You can create different channels and invite people to join the channels. Within these channels the team can have ongoing dialogue about a project or office subject. With a mobile and desktop version Slack makes communication between the office and remote workers quick and hassle-free.
Xero is the ultimate mobile accounting platform. It creates a one-stop shop for all your accounts and credit cards, allowing you to quickly create and send invoices. Most importantly, it lets you invite your financial advisor to work with you on your company’s finances in real-time. The app allows an unlimited number of users, so it can scale alongside your business as it grows.
Trello is a collaboration tool that organises your projects into boards. In one glance it tells you what’s being worked on, who’s working on what, and where something is in a process.
Trello is somewhere between a to do list tool, a visual tracking tool and a project management tool that allows you to assign tasks to your team, add checklists, discussions, documents, and track their progress.
This app is focused on reducing procrastination. It runs in the background of your device and tracks your online behaviour and gives you a detailed analysis of the time you’re spending on different applications and websites. You can also enter in productivity goals and it will hold you accountable when you stray for too long from your stated task.
This is a great app for those who often find themselves easily distracted by the more fun social apps on their phones when they should be completing a work task.
