The uncertain future of EU roaming charges?

We were all looking forward to seeing the end of EU roaming charges this June, but since the Brexit result last year it has left us all questioning what will happen in the future.  At Porrima we have been following this very closely, as understanding roaming charges is essential for us to help telecom partners with their tariff analysis.

As of June 2017, Vodafone, Three, O2 and EE business customers will see an end to EU roaming charges. This has been a long time coming, but we will now only enjoy this benefit until 2019 when the UK is due to leave the EU. What will happen then is left in the hands of the negotiators.

It is likely that we will no longer be able to keep the same deal as the rest of Europe but as with all Brexit negotiations it seems that no one can be clear on what will happen. As many employees travel regularly to Europe, they could end up being left with hefty bills.

One thing you can be sure of is that our Tariff Analyser will be kept up to date with all the developments with regards to roaming cost changes, and no matter if they come back into effect we will be able to help you make sure your customers are on the best deal.

Tariff Analyser provides you with a breakdown of the number and destination of international calls, roaming calls made and roaming calls received and also the amount of data used abroad. This information is then analysed with the available tariffs and bolt-ons to find a way to save your customer money.

We hope that the EU roaming outcome will be positive but, either way, regular tariff analysis for customers can help you keep on track.
